We journalers have our ways of running from therapeutic journalingthe page and somehow we survive.  But to reap the rewards of living a better life than what we’ve had, we must take a chance again of journal writing, journal writing, journal writing every single day not somewhere down the road. (Thanks, Mr. Manilow.)  A daily pen-to-page practice is how to reap the greatest rewards from what we like to call 'therapeutic journaling'.

Try any, some, or all of these Journaling Jumpstarters to begin:

1.) Get a pen and notebook, date your entry and put down this line, “The Cure is here. The Healing has begun” and then write, write, write away. When you're done, write down how you FEEL about this journaling experience!

2.) Begin with "Why does ___ (fill in a name) drive me crazy?" Date your entry & write away to discover more about your Self.

3.) Pick a song. Use some of its lyrics to start a new journal entry. Or choose a song you love and write your own lyrics!

4.) First, date your entry.  Then write: 'Oh, I Could Never...' and be aware of what's going on in your body as you write.  What is your body trying to tell you? Wander all around a bookstore or library.  Pick out and open any book.  Wherever your eyes land, use that phrase as a journal entry starter and write, write, write.

5.) Have a ten-minute freewriting huddle with your Inner Coach. Just write, write, write down his/her words of wisdom. Interesting stuff, n'est ce pas?
