One's Journal Prompts Jolly Good Circumstance(s)

Some additional information in one line

Journalers are always searching (okay, bitching and moaning and complaining are words that can be used here as well) for something new, different and preferably exciting to write about. As with all long-term intimate relationships, there are periodic lulls…here are some suggestions from my newsletter subscribers and my clients for reigniting the flames of passion and desire.

1. Change the Scenery

If you are a morning person, switch to writing “Night Notes” and see how that data dump before bedtime helps you sleep and dream better. Getting a good night’s sleep is a challenge because we haven’t learned how to confront and turn off the brain. Screaming at and stressing over your brainchatterers compounds the worst of a bad situation. You call the shots. You have the power to change the imbedded head game rules.  If you’re a night owl, try Morning Pages. Give it at least a week to see how it works for you.

2. Read, Read, Read

Arbitrarily open an old journal, today’s newspaper, a book or Google a question and see what the search returns.  Choose a word, phrase or sentence, write it down and experience how action attracts your muses’ attention. Or you could try reading the lyrics of a favorite song. Today, I remembered a phrase that I’ve always loved by Billy Joel, “I’m that voice you’re hearing in the hall” from “The Longest Time.” I bet that journal prompt will take me to some very interesting places.

3. TA DA List

We pressure ourselves to be better organized and accomplish more superhuman feats by making To Do Lists of all the zillion things we think we should do. Some (?)times we misplace them or forget them again like when we go to the supermarket, yes?

When you are moved to make your next To Do List, turn the page over and create a TA DA List.  Note your successes, accomplishments, talents, and feel good memories....

Or just create a TA DA list and keep it in your journal, at your computer or carry it in your pocket or purse and continue to add to this constant reminder of your awesomeness!

4. Carpe Diem

Before your Inner Chatterbox has a chance to get to you again, preempt it by sending it out to play in traffic. Then just follow your feelings. Grab the first notebook and pen you can find, sit down anywhere and write away.
