The concept of prosperity is a fairly new idea, yet people have been studying it for hundreds, if not thousands, of years. They may have labeled it something other than prosperity, but people have always been fascinated by money, wealth, and happiness, how they fit together, and how to attract more.

I’m here to tell you that prosperity is absolutely your birthright!

Yes, you deserve prosperity!

Everyone deserves to have prosperity in their lives. If you find yourself wondering, “Why me?” turn that around and ask, “Why not me?” If you’ve read any of my posts before, you’ve read the affirmations I share, and you may even know that I’m a strong believer in mindset impacting our greatest desires. Attitude is everything, and so often I meet people who have a poor attitude about money. This is why I’d like you to think about the why-NOT-me question.

Some of the world’s most successful people, such as Jack Canfield, Oprah Winfrey, and John Grisham, did not give up. They did not allow a negative attitude to impact their lives.

How to Attract Prosperity

I love the story of how, before he was published, Chicken Soup for the Soul author Jack Canfield wrote himself a check for a million dollars and posted it on his ceiling in his bedroom, so he would see it every night before he went to bed. I’ve read a similar story about Jim Carrey where, before he was successful, he wrote himself a check for 10-Million dollars and wrote in the memo “for acting services rendered.”

There’s a quote from Oprah in this article that says, “Create the highest, grandest vision possible for your life because you become what you believe.” You become what you believe. I love this so much, you will find a version of it in this month’s affirmations below.

John Grisham believed so much in The Firm that he self-published 5,000 copies and sold them out of the trunk of his car. Based on what Jack Canfield, Jim Carrey, Oprah Winfrey, and John Grisham have demonstrated, you attract prosperity by first believing in yourself, then visualizing what it is you want to achieve.

How to See the World as a Gift, Not a Threat

Seeing the world as a gift is all about reframing. The why-NOT-me question is an example of this. When we say things like, “Why would that happen to me?” or “That will never happen to me” we’re taking the point of view that the world has something against us--it’s threatening. Instead, try to see how the world is a gift with opportunities everywhere.

Changing your attitude can be difficult if that’s the way you’ve always looked at things, but it can be done. How can you reframe your negative thoughts and view them as opportunities or challenges to be completed with a positive outcome? That’s what the why-NOT-me question does. It gives you the opportunity to see new possibilities for yourself. You’ll have an opportunity to explore these possibilities in your journal later.

My current ‘threat’ is dealing with challenging neighbors. While I really don’t want to move and my kids really like our house, perhaps this is an opportunity for us to see what else is out there. Maybe if I am open to seeing these challenging neighbors as a gift, my family and I will end up somewhere much better for us. I feel lighter and happier already, just thinking about that possibility!

How to Feel Empowered in any Situation

Seeing the world as a gift is one way to empower yourself. Depending on the situation, this can be challenging. If you are having trouble seeing the positive or the growth opportunity to feel empowered in the situation, that’s okay. Give it some time. Situations charged with emotions are often difficult to process right away.

Once you’ve had a chance to feel all the things you want to feel about the situation, take some time to reflect and consider how you can empower yourself. Is there another point of view you can take that provides an opportunity for you? Once you’ve had some distance, you may see the situation in a new light. If it is a problem that requires a solution, brainstorming can help. Talking it out with someone can help you gain a new perspective too.

I’m not saying every situation requires an attitude adjustment. There are definitely situations where you are completely within your rights to stand up for yourself. That is empowering too!

With the help of affirmations and our journals, let’s practice owning prosperity as our birthrights by empowering ourselves with the right attitudes to attract our desires!

Affirmations

Over the last couple of years, I have become an affirmation addict. I love using them for everything. Here are a few you can use to help you see that prosperity is your birthright.

  • I’m becoming what I believe.
  • I attract prosperity every day.
  • Prosperity feels easy and freeing.
  • I am empowered to attract whatever I desire.
  • The world has many gifts for me to explore.

As always, you are welcome to tweak these affirmations so they fit better with your specific situation. The more specific the affirmations, the better they work. Remember to repeat them often throughout your day.

Journal Prompts

Since you’re reading this post, you likely already know the benefits of journaling. If you’re new here, this is a list of just a few things journaling can do for you:

  • Help you gain a new perspective,
  • Provide a sense of relief,
  • Get things onto paper and out of your head, and
  • Reduce stress.

I always feel like I’ve freed up some space in my brain after I’ve written in my journal. Grab your pen and your journal and take some time to ponder the following questions.

I’m sure you knew this was coming, but it’s time to answer that question: Why NOT me? How can you turn the negative why-me question into an opportunity?

Now’s your chance to think creatively about all the reasons you deserve prosperity in your life. Remember, it’s your birthright. This means whether you deserve it or not shouldn’t factor into the equation, but we’ve all been conditioned to think this, so now’s your opportunity to list all the reasons why prosperity is on its way to you now.

What negative situation is currently bringing you down? How can you turn it around so it feels empowering?

Dealing with negative situations is never easy, but with a little time and distance you may begin to see it as an opportunity. If you’ve been struggling with something recently, use this opportunity to write in your journal about how this situation could turn out to be a good thing.

What difficult or challenging situations in the past turned out to be wonderful gifts from the universe? Why did those situations turn out that way?

The past can be a wonderful reminder of how things are meant to be or even that we are stronger than we think we are. Write about a situation in the past where you came out stronger because of what you went through. How can you apply the lessons learned to your current struggles?

While it may not feel like it right now, prosperity is your birthright. When you see the world as a gift and empower yourself through your struggles you are able to visualize the future you want for yourself. Anything is possible if you believe!
