You can notice seasons long before the calendar does, just by being outside and paying attention. For example, I stood outside on my patio, and took a photo of my yard, facing East. Then, on the 10th of each month, I put a dot on the photograph where the sun rose on that day. At the end of a year, I saw how the sun moved North starting in January, hit the Northernmost point in June, and then back toward the South. My figs ripened two weeks later this year than last.
