The Best Investment a Business Will Ever Make

Written by Marla J. Albertie | February 8, 2023

I attended Grant Cardone’s annual 10 X Growth Conference virtually in 2020, and I attended in person in 2019. If you are a business owner, I highly recommend attending this conference at least once. The conference is an experience you will never forget. One thing I noticed was many small business owners brought their entire teams. There were teams of 20–100 people. These are companies that understand that to make more revenue; they must invest in their people. I said to myself, “one day, I will do this for my team.” I have a small virtual team, and I desire to bring them all together and attend conferences just like this one.

Whether you are a leader of a team of 20, an entrepreneur in a startup, or a CEO of a Fortune 100 company, you MUST have a team to help you run the day-to-day operations, because as you may know, you can’t do it all. No one is “ self-made.”

Here are six reasons why you should invest in your team:

1: People development equals revenue.

One of the first things a business owner should think about is developing their people. The more skills and knowledge they have, the more valuable they are to the organization. I have never seen a successful company with people who are not learning everyday. Invest in books and courses for your team. Not only does it aid in the development of your team, but it also makes your company look attractive to potential clients, customers, and future employees.

2: Saves time.

If you invest in your team today, you are saving yourself a boatload of mistakes and heartache down the road. We all know in business, time is money, and we can’t afford to waste either. Be proactive by providing resources for your team to be successful. For example, providing sales training will save time because your team will learn skills they can use to bring in customers.

3: Saves money.

Mistakes will happen; it is inevitable. If companies keep making the same mistakes, they are losing money. I have evaluated many teams and discovered that if proper training was invested in employees, errors could have been avoided. The smallest mistakes cost the most money. Go back to number two, invest in the appropriate training.

4: Builds trust.

When leaders invest in their teams, it proves to the team that the leader trusts them to do the work. People like to be held responsible and have ownership. When leaders invest in their teams’ development, they create a bond of trust and loyalty that will continue to expand and help build the creditability of the business.

5: It creates humble leadership.

Let’s face it, no one likes a “know it all leader.” Your team should have a sense of humility from their leader. Having humility sends the example that the leader cares about their well-being and wants to see them thrive. Again, imagine how this looks to potential clients and customers.

6: Creates greatness.

Have you heard the saying, “everything rises and falls on leadership?” Well, it is true. If your team is lacking, then the leader is lacking, if the team is performing well, then the leader has lead great performance for their team. Leaders must lead by example. A leader cannot be great if their team is not great. People want to work and do business with companies that lead with greatness, and this greatness must start with your team.

Do you want to see your business thrive and go to the next level? You need to invest in your team every opportunity you get. I am not suggesting you take the whole team to 10 X Con or any conference for that matter, but hey, it can be a start.

Book Summary: Can you imagine all the things you like, love, and adore in one book? All your favorites captured at one time with space to write more. So, why did I write this book? This book has been on my heart for years and I am finally getting it out to the world.

You deserve to brag about yourself, so why not? Not only is this a bragging book, but it is a book of ideas you can use to start your next project, business, career move, or anything your heart desires. So how does it work? Each topic/list has a “number” to reach because the goal is to get you to stretch your thinking. Need more space? Don’t worry, there are extra lines per number so you can add more and there are extra pages in the back of the book for you to create your own. Ready to start bragging?
