If you have ever tried to be more positive, you know that it's not easy. Being confident can be hard work! But, if you are one of the millions of people who are having a hard time believing in yourself, I have good news: it's possible.

Life has a way of kicking you in the rear when you least expect it. The tricky thing about confidence is that it's not a trait you can just turn on and off—it's more like a system of levers and pulleys that you can reach over top to make yourself feel better, confident, and more socially in control. The problem is that when you're stressed out and uncertain, and you're too busy or afraid to pay attention to those levers, they don't get pulled and you don't get the confidence boost you need.

1. Be affirmative with yourself

One of the most common personal problems people face is not feeling confident. We tend to blame others for our problems, so we fail to look for solutions in the mirror. We start a project with a lot of enthusiasm, but the enthusiasm dies when the perceived obstacles pop up. We believe that we have to have a perfect body, which is just a myth. We blame our boss for all our problems. All of this is just a bad habit. Being confident is like breathing to us. We must learn to breathe more.

This is the hardest thing to do when it comes to being confident because we are brainwashed to believe that we always need to be in a negative state. We are told to make ourselves small, inferior, victim, and even more, weak. But no matter where you are in life, you can be more confident by the end of the day.

2. Learn new skills

Confidence is the ability to act and think based on your level of knowledge. There are a lot of things to be confident about in life. Most of us are confident about our careers, our health, our relationships, and other areas of our lives. We can be confident about our physical appearance, and we can be confident about our intellect. Confidence is something that everyone should have, and should take with them wherever they go.

When you're starting out, you don't have any experience, so you tend to lack confidence—and that lack of confidence can destroy your ability to learn new things. But there's an easy way to overcome that problem, and—with a few simple steps—you can start gaining confidence in new areas of your life.

3. Fight your fears

The average person's negative self-talk is as depressing as it is demotivating. But it doesn't have to be that way. Positive affirmations, or repeated positive statements about yourself and what you want, can help you overcome negative emotions and replace them with better ones. Fear is a powerful thing—as powerful as it is misunderstood. Fear can motivate you to change, it can make you work harder and it can help you reach your goals.

Confidence is the biggest factor in your success. It's what makes you go after the job you want and make it happen,it's what makes you apply for that dream job, it's what helps you overcome your fears of public speaking and rejection, and it's what helps you take that first step in a new relationship. But confidence is something that can easily be lost.

4. See yourself as an equal to others

Confidence is a muscle. But to build confidence, it needs to be fed in the right way. You can’t expect to build confidence by using a temporary boost. Building confidence is a lifelong process. Staying in a place or situation that makes you feel inadequate can lead to low self-esteem, which in turn can impact confidence levels.

While some people might say there is a race between the degradation of social cohesion and increasing elite inequality, others say there is a race between the naturalization of the status quo and a revolt against the status quo. Whichever side you come down on, the main issue is that when inequality is taken for granted, it has a corrosive effect on society and all of us.

5. Delegate to people

Delegating duties to people you trust and listen to will help you achieve your goals more quickly, and with less effort. Confidence is a must for success in life. We all have a certain level of confidence that reaches a tipping point at which we’re confident enough to take action and reach our goals.

Delegation is the method by which a person gives tasks and/or projects to someone else, usually a trusted person so that he or she can devote more time and energy to something of higher priority. It is an excellent way to free yourself to focus your time and attention on those things that are most important and meaningful to you.

6. Know your values

Values are the things you stand for and believe in, the things that make you tick, and the things that sustain you. For most of us, life is about figuring out what we want, then working hard to achieve it. These values help us form a sense of direction and purpose, helping us know what we're working for each day. But, as we get older, these values can get blurred. Set your values--those things that are most important to you--and make sure they're the things you work to achieve. Over time, they'll help you push harder, stay more focused, and make better decisions. You are the unique person you are thanks to your unique experiences and your individual temperament.

7. Raise your energy

You've probably heard that it's important to do something nice for yourself every day, and you'll be even more aware that it's important to do the same thing every day once you know the simple trick I'm going to share. If you're anything like me, you think that's a bit silly, since you could be doing something nice for yourself every day and you're probably not doing it.

You can trick yourself into thinking you're more confident than you truly are. (Self-help guides to confidence are hot right now!) But that's not a sustainable solution. The only way to truly boost your confidence—and the only way to ensure you feel more confident every day—is to feed your confidence. (And the only way to do that is to exercise.)
