* I SECOND THAT EMOTION *

The BeeGees wrote ".... it's just emotions, Taking me over, Tied up in sorrows, Lost in my soul..."

And that's just the beginning! Emotions are a key part of what it means to be human.  Emotions are not a life threatening situation; it's just that we don't manage them well, if at all.  We try to control them, deny their existence, repress, ruminate, analyze, overthink and overeat about them. Those are old sickly mind games. The healthy way to work with emotions is to get plenty of journaling exercise. To write and write and write and then write some more.

A unique journaling technique for working with our emotions is found at Burn the Baggage! Resentment, Envy, Anger, Loss, Tough Times are the emotions you can choose from.  Download one of the Journals and on odd numbered pages, you write about negatives and on even numbered pages you write out its positives.  So you see, you don't have to fight your feelings anymore!

* TRY THIS AT HOME *

journalingAfter reading my recent blog post on Writer's Block, one of my Facebook fans Wendy suggested doodling as a way of overcoming the dreaded yet definitely curable dis-ease. Oh yes, she likes to use unlined journals too...

* IN YOUR OWN WORDS *

This month's guest columnist is Manpreet Juneja who shares her poem and its story with us.  She can be found at Gaze at Your Reflections.. and Leadership & Conflict Management Learnings

This poem is very spontaneous and is a result of the the chatter of feelings going in my mind. I had been thinking about the purity of love and if people really do fall in love or is it just the physical love. The poem depicts two souls one of which is still unsure if the person he/she thinks is in love with him/her is actually in love or is it just a short term physical attraction. One who's truly in love is the 'Me' and the person she loves is 'You' in the poem 'You and Me'. So its like 'Me' isn't sure of going ahead in the relation as she/he is still not convinced of the true love behind, whether that really exists.

Poem - You and Me [By Manpreet Juneja]
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The gentle touch on the heart
makes me shiver.. Why me..

When I had gladly accepted the autumn,
it didn't last for long..
A new season came in and the spring had shone.
Ecstasy seemed to pour in..
when you, my dear friend..came in.

I was scared, took a step back
thought if I walk ahead, may lose the track..
You again came in, held my emotions..
We stopped by, with some sweet notions..

To ease our hearts, we named it as friendship
Still we expressed, not to lose on the trip
Fantasies came in, reality lost somewhere
Dreams took shape, with a hope to share
We devoured our dreams
We felt our senses
We whispered, we felt
We shared, we cared...

The fragrance spread,
at times less, at times more
Making me wonder,
Is there any shore....?

I miss you, but unsure if you do..
The thoughts of being together,
feel fresh as dew..
Sometimes seems like an illusion,
I wonder if its just lust?
Coz love speaks, grows the trust..

I swing to my tunes
My emotions are my expressions,
My feelings are my dance..
My fantasies are my melodies,
I wonder taking chance..

WRITES OF PASSAGE

"What separates us is neither our differences, our geography or our feelings - what separates us is our willingness to give voice to our feelings." - Mark Kolke
