Read some local online or offline 
newspapers. Use an intriguing headline as the opening sentence in your Journal. Something like:
"Body 'missing at least one foot' found at golf course"
In one of my careers, I was editor of the South Hills Record, a weekly newspaper covering suburbs south of Pittsburgh. One of my jobs was writing a catchy title for all the stories. I just checked and that newspaper is still around (at least online) and I came across this curious headline:
“Virgin's essay-writing a 'splashing' success in American Legion contest”

Only in Glastonbury could you get the local newspaper running headlines such as, "Could black feather through a letter box be a curse attempt?", "Birthday hugs and hemp", "Video offers alternative take on "hippy" town for tourists" !! You gotta love this place
